This is a picture of Kale getting into trouble with the police for breaking his house arrest by chasing a pair of children down the street. When Kale realises that his tag is beeping, he tries running back to his house but the police have already come and it's too late.
Opening Scenes; Characters:
Kale Brecht: He likes to joke around. He is a family guy and has a very close bond with his father. They go on fishing trips together and have a tight relationship. Kale is in his late teens and seems like an outgoing, funny and caring guy. He is from a fairly rich family because of the car they drive and their house. He loses his father in a car accident, where he manages to survive. A year later, he looks very depressed , he is wearing dark clothes, his speech is mumbled, and he is sleeping in class. This suggests that he has stopped caring about his education due to the tragic loss of his father. He has a lot of anger built up inside of him but he is also quite sad but he is grieving and his father's death is still affecting him, one year after his death. He is trying to hide from the world. His Spanish teacher caught him sleeping in class, realised that he had not done his homework and implied that Kale's father would be disappointed in him. This triggered Kale to punch the teacher. This is not the first time that Kale has gotten himself into trouble and he is put on house arrest for 3 months. He tries to keep himself busy by playing video games and watching Tv. At this point in the movie, Kale misses his dad and shows this by going into his office. It reminds him of his father and it is the only thing Kale has left of him. He is not dealing with his father's death well and is trying to shut himself out. A teenage girl moves into the house next door to him and Kale starts to fancy her. He watches her from a distance and is beginning to gain feelings for Ashley. He's becoming more friendly and has stopped trying to hide away from his mum. His anger has decreased and he looks much happier.
Ronnie: He is a rebellious, popular joker who likes being the centre of attention. He is a typical teenage boy and spends most of his time talking to girls and going out. He also finds Ashley hot. He is a good friend to Kale but thinks his life is boring until he sees Ashley.
Mrs Brecht:She is quite a stereotypical woman, cooking while the boys are at home. She is wearing bright clothes and seems very happy and positive. She is middle aged and pretty. A year after her husband's death, she is wearing dark clothes and looks a lot older. She is much more stressed and she has had enough of picking up after Kale's mess. She has cut his internet access after he was put on house arrest. She wants him to speak about what is on his mind.
Ashley:She is a young teenage girl who is pretty and has moved in next door to Kale. She is quite rich, judging by her car. Good looking, wears nice clothes. Has moved forcefully and does not get on that well with her parents. She knows she is being watched by Kale.
Robert Turner:Elderly, suspicious.Drove home at midnight in a Mustang with a dent as described on the news. A missing woman has been reported. He mows his lawn twice a day. Bored, extremely organised.
Middle Scenes;Characters
Kale Brecht:He is building bridges with his mum and is trying a bit harder in life. This makes us like Kale more. He is suspicious of his neighbour. He reads a newspaper about a missing woman. the report is also on the news. He is trying to detect Robert Turner. He has a very good friendship with Ronnie. He's been caught watching Ashley so she comes into his house. Kale is beginning to get closer to her. He fancies her more and is about to kiss her but Ronnie wakes up and intervenes. He sees Robert Turner in his house and also sees a woman struggling and screaming. The next morning, Kale finds Robert in his house. Kale feels threatened so he tries threatening Robert by letting him know that he popped his Spanish teacher. Robert then spoke in Spanish. Kale kisses Ashley. Kale confesses his love for Ashley and how much he has observed her. Kale is determined and gets Ronnie to get into Robert's car. Kale is due to go to court.
Ronnie: Ronnie is helping Kale find more things out about Turner. He is also finding Ashley very attractive. He's quite naughty, clumsy, still a bit of a joker. He makes us like him. He is acting immature around Ashley because he is embarrassed around Ashley. Ronnie is oblivious to what Kale and Ashley are doing and falls asleep with pizza in his hand. He wakes up just in time to intervene their kiss. He tells Kale to stop spying on his neighbour because it's messing with his head. Ronnie is trying to help Kale. He is really scared and goes back to Robert's car to get his phone. He sees a body.
Mrs Brecht: She encounters Robert at the supermarket and is being super friendly. She is disappointed in Kale and doesn't believe him.
Ashley: Ashley is flirting with Kale, she likes the attention from the boys and goes to Kale's house. She's confident, flirtatious and pretty. She is not taking the boys' theory seriously but she is still working with them as a team. Ashley opens up about her parents. She is getting more intimate with Kale. She has new friends. Her and Kale kiss. She finds Kale sweet. She is spying on Robert but then Robert notices her and breaks into her car. Ashley finds out that Robert is watching them too. She is too scared to speak and tells Kale to drop the plan.
Robert Turner:Robert has really good hearing because he was mowing the lawn and he hears a rabbit. This makes us think he is really aware of his surroundings. Also, he traps rabbits to keep his garden beautiful and he mows his lawn twice a day. He like things to be tidy. He has fixed the dent in his car. He has brought a girl round and when they are in the living room, he pulls out a knife. He only cuts the price tag off her dress but this makes us suspicious and builds up tension because he was carrying a knife in the first place. He chases the woman around his house but lets the woman go as he spots Kale. He shows up at Kale's house and intimidates him. He claims he ran into Kale's mum at the supermarket and he helped her fix her tyre but we think me might have tampered with the car so he could get closer to Kale. After hearing what Kale did to his Spanish teacher, he says that when he was in school he felt like killing his teachers. He goes to the supermarket and buys a shovel but leaves it there after realising that Ashley is watching him. He breaks into Ashley's car and lets her know that he is watching Kale, Ronnie and Ashley too. He is speaking to Kale through Ashley. he is good at hiding things.
Ending Scenes; Characters
Kale Brecht: Kale does not wants his mum to go into Turner's house but his mum is trying to keep him out of jail. He feels worried and conflicted. Kale was right all along and Mr Turner has caught him. He breaks into Robert Turner's house to try and find his mum. He finds dead bodies in his house. He is brave and this makes us think he's more heroic. He finds his mum in a really hidden closet in the basement. Robert finds hm but he fights him off and saves his mum's life. He and his mum make it out alive from the house. Kale then gets his tag taken off. He's still cheeky and fun after everything has happened.
Ronnie: He pulls a bad prank on Kale but makes it out of Robert Turner's house. He gets knocked out by Turner in Kale's house. He recovers and we next see him after everything that has happened. He seems like he's back to normal and is a joker again. We like Ronnie because he is a good friend and he's really funny.
Mrs Brecht: She's disappointed in Kale and she goes over to Turner's house to try to get him not to press charges. She gets knocked out by Turner. She helps Kale to try and beat Turner up. She's much happier after Kale gets his tag off and everything goes back to normal. Their relationship is strong and they are finally a normal, happy family.
Ashley: Ashley comes into the house at the right time and helps Kale to get away from Robert by stabbing him. She is still shocked because she thought that Kale was delusional. She then goes to get the police and help Kale out. Ashley helps Kale to get revenge on the kids that pranked Kale. She and Kale are together properly now.
Robert Turner: He is bonding with Mrs Brecht. He then knocks her out, followed by Ronnie. We now know he is the serial killer. He is vicious and evil. He's threatening Kale and wants to frame him. He is really arrogant. He's clever and manipulative so he can be in the background. He's an animal. Robert knocks the police officer out and shows a lot of skills. We can tell that this is not Robert's first time attacking someone. He has hidden rooms and basements in his house where he keeps all of his victims. Robert tries to fight Kale but Kale and his mum work together to kill him.
