Cinematography
The film starts with a long shot of a crowd of people standing in front of a cinema. This is called an establishment shot and it sets the scene. We then see a zoom onto the little boy which shows importance, hinting that he is a main character. After that, the camera pans from right to left across the cinema. It then zooms in on a boy who is smoking in the cinema. This also shows importance and hints that he is a main character too. We then see a long shot in a school with a close up as the focus changes to show the two boys. A pan from left to right is used to show that William is trying to hide fro Lee Carter, perhaps because he is scared of him or does not like him. Slightly later on in the film, the camera goes into a medium 2 shot to show that these two boys are developing a relationship and building a friendship. We then see a high angle shot on William which makes him look vulnerable and inferior when he's around his older brother. There is an extreme close up on a pair of red boots which are shown to be important as we see a reaction shot from the British students, A reaction shot is used to show that this person in the red boots is different and the children are amazed by them.
